Windows 95 On iPad [Jailbreak]

Remember Windows 95? You probably do, even those Apple fans among us. If you want to feel Windows 95 on your iPad, @kamagames has the solution. The YouTube-video below shows the emulation of Windows 95 on the iPad.

You can immediately see the downside: the touchscreen acts as the mouse. The systems also seems to react pretty slowly. But it does seem to work properly and applications like Notepad and Minesweeper are shown.

How does it work? It seems to be an implementation of Bochs on the iPad. Bochs can run many other operating systems by emulating them. OS’s like DOS, Microsoft Windows, BSDs, Linux, Xenixm, Rhapsody, MorphOS and AmigaOS can be emulated by Bochs.

According to Steven Troughten-Smith there’s no need for a jailbreak for the emulation. You only need a developers license to be able to use Bochs on your iPad. Via Steven’s Twitter-account, he placed photos to show Microsoft Windows 1.0.1 and Apple’s Rhapsody.
