Third-Party iPad Accessories…What Can We Expect?

A new product brings new accessories. The same thing goes for the iPad. Apple showed a couple of accessories like the iPad Dock and Keyboard Dock. They also showed an iPad Case. But other companies are showing off what they have in store for the iPad as well.

griffin-elan-caseOne of the first suppliers for iPad accessories is Griffin. They don’t have real products yet (the images appear to be renderings) but they at least announced they’re going to create iPad cases. One of the cases is the Elan Passport: an elegant leather case that even provides space for your business-cards (see picture at the right). The case will cost $50 but is not serving as a holder for the iPad unfortunately.

The Elan Sleeve acts as a leather sleeve to slide your iPad in. There’s also a silicon case for the iPad called FlexGrip which costs $30 and is available in several different colors. Griffin is even going to release the Screen Care Kit: a kit to clean the screen and protect it. For $25 you get a piece of cloth, cleaning fluid and a screenprotector. And last but not least there’s the Jumper: a neoprene-case for the iPad.

The next series of accessories comes from companies like iLuv, Belkin, Proporta and Scosche. Let’s continue with Scosche. I think they made an excellent product for the iPad. One of the downsides of the iPad is the fact that it doesn’t have a stand to ipad-kickstanddisplay your photos while the iPad stands on your desk. A stand could also be very handy for watching videos. So Scosche came up with the kickBack (see picture on the left). The stand is made from polycarbonate and rubber. You also get a piece of cloth and a screenprotector to protect the frontside of the iPad as well.

Another company is ready to produce many accessories for the iPad. The Perfora Leather Style NetBook Case is one of their first accessories. It’s a leather case, which is actuallt designed for 10-inch netbooks, but the iPad happens to have the same size. The case costs £19,95 and is available in green, red and black.

Proporta also has the Maya Leather Style NetBook Case. The case is black with grey stripes and is also made from leather. This case is made for netbooks as well but can come in handy for the iPad too. This case also costs £19,95.

iLuv had announced an entire iPad-productline. They plan to create cases from cloth, leather and silicon rubber. There will also be a variety of water resistance protection covers made from neoprene. The iLuv cases will be available in February. The picture at the top of this post gives an impression of the cases.

The pictures above show the three cases Belkin is going to put on the market. They also have a screenprotector for the iPad. The first case is the Vue Sleeve made from neoprene with a transparent little bag for objects like a pencil or something like that. The case is available in black/white or purple/violet and costs $40. The Max Sleeve is shown on the second picture. It’s also a neoprene case with a reinforced frontpanel for extra protection. The case costs $40. And last but not least, there’s the Grip Sleeve. Made from neoprene and silicon rubber and a price tag of $30. The screenprotector will cost $20.
