We all know there’s a lot of hype around the upcoming Apple Tablet. Although there’s not new news about the device everyday, and sometimes it even takes a week before we hear something new, other days there’s suddenly a lot to tell. The Apple Tablet seems to have a long history of rumors, although 2009 seems to be the year with the most exciting news about the device so far. Back in 1990 Apple was already working on a tablet-like device: the Pen Mac.
“The Pen Mac was a fully functional Mac computer (it even played the Mac startup chime) with a pen based touch screen. The screen itself was identical to the Mac Portable, but with the addition of pen touch. And of course the case was a lot smaller than the Mac Portable. The Pen Mac was supposedly not much more than one inch thick. Users could plug in a keyboard and mouse or easier input.”
From Newton to iPod touch. And from Pen Mac to “iTablet”? The rumors are stronger then ever and seem to point to a release date somewhere in the first quarter of 2010. Let’s find out.
