What is better then a stand? What is better then an extra battery? Yes, a combination of the two. The HyperMac Stand is both a stand and a battery. The stand offers 16 hours of extra battery life to your iPad. The stand-part of the HyperMac Stand offers two ways to position the iPad: one at an 18-degree angle and one at an 45-degree angle.

The battery is a 400watt-hour rechargeable lithium-ion battery and promises to extend your iPad’s battery with another 16 hours. In theory that means you could work with the iPad a full 26 to 28 hours! Is there a downside? Unfortunately, yes. The price will not be everybody’s cup of tea as the HyperMac Stand is priced at $129,95. You’ll have to keep in mind ofcourse, that you get a stand AND a battery in one. Also compare the standalone HyperMac Battery to this HyperMac Stand. The price might suddenly become more attractive.

Below is the press release:

HyperMac Stand – The First And Only iPad Stand With Built-In Battery Pack
Pocket Sized Stand Holds And Charges iPad At The Same Time, Extends Battery Life By Extra 16 Hours

07.26.2010 – SUNNYVALE, California – Sanho Corporation, the company behind the award-winning HyperMac battery packs for Apple MacBook, iPad and iPhone today announce the availability of HyperMac Stand, the world’s first and only iPad stand with a built-in battery pack, providing up to 16 hours of additional battery life to the iPad.

HyperMac Stand incorporates 2 slots to hold the iPad at either 18 or 45 degrees, in portrait or landscape positions. The slots are specially treated with a soft touch coating to protect the iPad from scuffs and designed to work with both an encased or bare iPad.

Featuring a built-in 40-watt-hour rechargeable lithium-ion battery (compared to iPad’s internal 25-watt-hour battery), the HyperMac Stand is capable of extending the iPad battery life by an additional 16 hours, delivering power to the iPad via a 10W USB port. The HyperMac Stand itself can be recharged via a standard mini USB cable and supports pass-through charging/syncing so that the iPad can charge/sync with the computer even when it is connected via the HyperMac Stand. Users can check the HyperMac Stand battery level anytime with the built-in 5-stage lighted LED indicator.

“Most iPad stands in the market are either bulky or heavy or both, necessary characteristics to ensure that the not so tiny iPad can be properly supported,” states Daniel Chin, President of Sanho Corporation. “HyperMac Stand makes clever use of the natural weight of the lithium-ion battery cells to provide added stability,” he adds. “The end result is one of the most compact pocket-sized iPad stand available in the market with unsurpassed stability,” he continues. “Whatever little weight (12.7oz / 360g) the user have to carry is actually useful power to extend the iPad battery life by 1.5 times,” he concludes.

HyperMac batteries use the same high-end lithium ion cells and components that are supplied to the U.S. military, providing the utmost reliability, safety and performance. It is rechargeable up to 1,000 times and comes with a one year warranty

The HyperMac Stand is now available at www.hypermac.com/stand for $129.95.

Missing a webcam on the iPad? There might be a nice solution soon. Although it’s still a concept, the design looks very good. The iPad Cam-Case is designed by Chet Rosales. This designer actually packed the camera in a case, so the iPad is protected as well. The camera can be used to make video-calls with VOiP-like applications like Skype.

The good thing about this design is the fact the camera is implemented into a corner, so you can use the iPad in either landscape or portrait mode. The case is made of a rubber material. There is also a port on the bottom to be able to re-charge the iPad without taking it out of the case.

You buy an iPad, watch videos on it, listen to some music and play some games, but after a while you get bored. What do you do next? Well you write an application which enables you to control a blimp via the iPad.

That’s what happened at a killer event for the world’s top designers. What can you do to attract the audience to your project and even bring a smile to their faces? The answer: just fly a massive iPad controlled blimp over their heads.

The blimp is 52″ big and has a camera embedded into the cockpit. The iPad receives the live video-feed enabling users to control the blimp by using the iPad’s accelerometers. Everybody could give it a try and everything could be followed on the big screen at the event.

Added bonuses: you get a cockpit view on the iPad, so you can see whatever the blimp sees, and it just so happens that anyone that looks up at the blimp has their face turned into one of the exhibited Munny character’s faces.

There are not so many accessories for the iPad yet. Apple offers the iPad Case and the iPad Keyboard Dock for instance, but if you have a little more money to spend, maybe The Joule is something for you. The Joule is an iPad stand from Element Case and is probably one of the most beautiful stands for any product ever made. At least I think it’s handsome.

The Joule is made from solid aluminum with rubber feet to make the stand sturdy and slip-resistant. There’s also a foot to make sure you can use your iPad while having it in the stand without tipping it over. The iPad can be fitted in the stand horizontally or vertically. All the buttons are still accessible no matter how you place the iPad in the stand.

Personally, if I had the money I would by one instantly, but since this accessory for the iPad costs $129 plus shipping costs, it’s best to think it over a couple of times. For those who like spending quite some money for a stand, there are is another detail that makes it more interesting to buy one: you can get it customized or laser-engraved with words, images, or logos.

The iPad Camera Connection Kit had been announced by Apple as part of the iPad launch, but was not available for purchase when the iPad pre-order program started on March 12th.
Most iPad accessories like the iPad Case and iPad Keyboard Dock will ship in April, but the power adapters is not shipping until May.

Shipping windows for several of Apple’s forthcoming iPad accessories have begun to slip past the device’s own April 3rd launch date. I posted information about the iPad accessories and their launch date last Friday. Accessories like the iPad Dock and iPad Case had a launch date of April 3rd, the same as the iPad. Now it seems these accessories have different launch dates.

The iPad Case for instance now ships mid April. The iPad Keyboard Dock first had a launch date mid April. It now ships late April.

“First we noticed the iPad case making a slight shift from April 3rd to Mid-April. Today we notice Apple has delayed the iPad Keyboard Dock. The product was originally set to ship to customers in late-April but now the Apple store has placed the shipping time for sometime in May.”

The reason for the delays is unknown, but it could be due to high demand. The iPad Camera Connection Kit, announced at the January 27th keynote, is still not available for purchase at all.

I assume we’ll here more from Apple about the iPad and its accessories as we approach the April 3rd launch date.

P.S. The picture shows a launch date somewhere in May for the Keyboard Dock, but Apple’s website shows late April as the launch date.

Apple has updated their online store with the iPad accessories and people can now start pre-ordering the iPad starting at $499. The accessories available for the iPad are listed below (notice the different shipping dates):

iPad Keyboard Dock $69 (ships mid April)

iPad Case $39 (ships April 3rd)

iPad Dock $29 (ships April 3rd)

iPad 10W USB Power Adapter $29 (ships late April)

iPad Dock Connector to VGA Adapter $29 (ships April 3rd)

Apple Wireless Keyboard $69 (ships now)

The only thing I’m missing here is the Camera Connection Kit. No word about it, so it’s unsure wether the Kit will later be available when the other countries start selling the iPad or if Apple just “forgot” to post the Kit.

The prices for the iPad are still the same, starting at $499 for the 16GB model all the way up to $829 for the 64GB 3G model.
