I can’t believe this. So many rumors, so many people saying that the Tablet will arrive in the first quarter of 2010. And now a new report suggests that the mythical tablet computer from Apple is going to be released in the second quarter of 2010. And why? Because Apple decided to use other parts for the production of the tablet.
According to this report (still a rumor since the device has not even been officially announced yet) Apple wants to come with a more expensive 9,7-inch version of the tablet that uses an OLED-screen from LG. The cheaper version of the device will get a bigger TFT-screen that measures 10,6-inches. Anonymous sources say that the OLED-screens are part of a 5 year deal between Apple and LG, worth $500 million. OLED-screens are very expensive at the moment. A 9,7-inch OLED-screen costs about $500 right now.
The price of the more expensive edition of the Apple Tablet will then increase to an astronomical $2000, if it is released in the second half of 2010. The price could eventually be lower when it is combined with a 3G contract. The cheaper version of the tablet device will be around $800 to $1000.
I don’t get it. Why change parts at the last moment? And why launch two version of the Apple Tablet that are practically the same, when the only difference is the screen? Just give us what everybody wants. Or maybe it’s a strategy to see how bad everyone wants the Apple Tablet. With all the rumors appearing on the Internet lately, I can’t believe Apple really wants to delay the launch of one of the most rumored devices ever.
