With so many rumors showing up lately and an Apple event planned on January 24th, 25th and 26th with a major announcement on the 26th, Steve Jobs must be very happy with what is going to happen. And it seems he is. A New York Times Blog post by Nick Bilton reveals a few details about the upcoming touchscreen device.

Bilton says Apple has been working on a tablet on-and-off for many years but didn’t launch the product because the market was not ready. The technology used for the tablet was then used for the iPhone, but now it seems Apple feels the market is ready for tablet computers. They have finally gotten to the point the tablet is ready for launch. According to a current senior employee at Apple, Steve Jobs is said to be “extremely happy with the new tablet”.

“You will be very surprised how you interact with the new tablet.”, that’s what another source told Bilton. It is unclear what this interaction might be, but with all the patents on multi-touch in possession of Apple they can go many directions with the way you can interact with the tablet device. Advanced gestures could be possible but it doesn’t seem very surprising. Less then a month from now, we will know…hopefully!
