Several publishers are preparing for a possible domination of the print industry by the Apple tablet computer, according to Ad Age. They are worried that Apple will dominate the entire print industry, just like what they did with the music industry and iTunes.
They are even planning strategies to make sure they are several steps ahead of Apple. The publishers of the print industry want to digitally distribute their newspapers and magazines themselves. This way, the readers won’t have to be dependent only of iTunes when it comes to digital version of books, newspapers and magazines.
“It’s true that magazine and newspaper publishers are eager to sell digital editions tailored for the tablet and other devices — but they’re just as determined to prevent Apple from getting between them and their readers along the way.”
Recent rumors suggested Apple is working on a plan that will change the way we read books. That it will cause a revolution. Sources within The New York Times claim that Apple has already approached the newspaper regarding plans to distribute its content on a “new device”.
