Appel Sued Over iPad Overheating Issues

Personally I’ve never had any trouble with the iPad overheating, but apparently a lot of iPad users have issues with a very hot tablet. And because of the many overheating issues, Apple has been sued in U.S. District Court in Northern California. The claim is that the iPad overheats and fails to operate properly in warm conditions.

The suit is filed in Oakland, CA, and Bloomberg reports the following:

“The iPad does not live up to the reasonable consumer’s expectations created by Apple”

“It overheats so quickly under common weather conditions”

“The iPad also turns off, sometimes after just a few minutes of use”

Have you had trouble with the iPad overheating?

HyperMac Stand For iPad Is Also A Battery

What is better then a stand? What is better then an extra battery? Yes, a combination of the two. The HyperMac Stand is both a stand and a battery. The stand offers 16 hours of extra battery life to your iPad. The stand-part of the HyperMac Stand offers two ways to position the iPad: one at an 18-degree angle and one at an 45-degree angle.

The battery is a 400watt-hour rechargeable lithium-ion battery and promises to extend your iPad’s battery with another 16 hours. In theory that means you could work with the iPad a full 26 to 28 hours! Is there a downside? Unfortunately, yes. The price will not be everybody’s cup of tea as the HyperMac Stand is priced at $129,95. You’ll have to keep in mind ofcourse, that you get a stand AND a battery in one. Also compare the standalone HyperMac Battery to this HyperMac Stand. The price might suddenly become more attractive.

Below is the press release:

The HyperMac Stand itself can be recharged via a standard mini USB cable and supports pass-through charging/syncing so that the iPad can charge/sync with the computer even when it is connected via the HyperMac Stand. Users can check the HyperMac Stand battery level anytime with the built-in 5-stage lighted LED indicator.

“Most iPad stands in the market are either bulky or heavy or both, necessary characteristics to ensure that the not so tiny iPad can be properly supported,” states Daniel Chin, President of Sanho Corporation. “HyperMac Stand makes clever use of the natural weight of the lithium-ion battery cells to provide added stability,” he adds. “The end result is one of the most compact pocket-sized iPad stand available in the market with unsurpassed stability,” he continues. “Whatever little weight (12.7oz / 360g) the user have to carry is actually useful power to extend the iPad battery life by 1.5 times,” he concludes.

Rumor: Engraving On The iPad?

erictrics-ipad-engravingIf you buy an iPod you get the choice wether or not you want an engraving to make the iPod more personal. The engraving is done with lasers and can be used to ‘print’ a personal message at the back of the music player. According to Erictric, Apple is planning to offer this option for the iPas as well.

“From what I understand, Apple’s going to be offering customers the option to get their iPads engraved just before the Holidays roll around,” the source said.

It’s unclear wether or not Apple will ask some money for this service, although it is highly likely it will be free to make the iPad even more attractive.
