9to5Mac continues to dig into the iPad simulator to find out new pieces of software features and hopefully uncover things we’ve not seen or heard of yet. A few days ago they posted a bunch of pictures showing some details about the Settings, Lock Screen Media Controls, YouTube in HTML5 and other smaller things.
While I like to watch pictures of the iPad’s software (because I think the software is beautifully crafted), I also like to find out details about the features of the software. The first picture shows the general settings. If you compare it to the iPhone’s settings you’ll notice that “Battery Percentage” has been added to the “General Settings” on the iPad, while that option is a separate option on the iPhone called “Usage”. The second thing that’s even more noticeable, is the “File Sharing” option. It reads:
“File sharing allows you to transfer application files to and from your iPad and computer”
Another picture shows a YouTube video playing in the normal YouTube browser. 9to5Mac asks themselves if a separate YouTube app is necessary. There is also a picture showing lock screen media controls. This suggests one might listen to music via the lock screen without the need to log in. This can also be done on the iPhone by pressing the home button twice fast. It is unclear if that needs to be done on the iPad as well. These media controls might also indicate it is possible to watch videos via the lock screen. Steve Jobs has also presented the iPad as a possible photo frame as you can watch your photos via the lock screen by pressing the special photo frame button.
Other tidbits are the battery percentage indicator, handwritten Chinese character recognition, and a newly built-in Google suggestions in iPad Safari.
