Fruit Ninja for the iPhone has been a major hit, selling over 1 million copies in a little over two months time. It’s only logical to bring the fruit slicing game to the iPad and in HD ofcourse. Unlike many other games going from the iPhone to their HD versions, this game actually provides users with some content you won’t find on the iPhone version.
According to the description of the game:
Fruit Ninja is a juicy action game with squishy, splatty and satisfying fruit carnage! Become the ultimate bringer of sweet, tasty destruction with every slash.
And that’s exactly what it is. Your iPad will be filled with colors in the form of delicious fruit. Your goal is to slice fruit with your fingers to get points. Achieve as many points as you can and become the best in the world. You’ll see fruit like coconuts, apples, oranges, peaches and many more. You have two games modes in single player connected to worldwide leaderboards using Openfeint.

New in this HD version of the game is that you can swipe with up to eight fingers across the screen. Also new, and definitely the most amazing part of the game, is Multiplayer. And it even comes in two modes. You can play head-to-head in the multiplayer modes: Classic Attack and Zen Duel.
With Classic Attack you must try to slice as many fruits as you can. It’s the original version of the game; loose three pieces of fruit and the game is over, or slice the bomb and the game is immediately over. As you play against each other it’s your goal to stay alive as long as possible. There’s also a nice feature to make it harder for your opponent: if you sliced enough fruit, you can tap the bomb icon in the lower right corner of the screen and send a bomb to your opponent who hopefully slices the bomb so you will win.
With Zen Duel you have 60 seconds to slice as much fruit as you can. There will be no bombs and you also can’t loose by letting fruit slide of the screen. You just have to slice as much fruit as you can and beat your opponent.

Both multiplayer modes are very addictive and fun. It really adds to the excitement of the game as you really want to win. That’s what makes this HD version a lot of fun. You have different colored swords, lots of fruit, multiplayer modes, and two single player modes. All future updates will be free, but Fruit Ninja HD already seems to be a very complete game. The only downside: the price. With $4,99 I think this game is a bit overpriced. I think with the addition of multiplayer and the HD graphics it’s worth tree times the price of the iPhone version. So $2,99 should be a better price tag. If you think the price is too high, wait till there’s a game sale. Otherwise buy the game as fast as you can.
