DJ Concept For The iPad

The screen of the iPhone is too small for certain applications. For example, if you want to transform your iPhone into a DJ console, all the buttons will never fit the screen or will be way too small to be able to use the console normally. So, the iPad seems perfect for such an application because of its 9.7-inch screen. And that’s exactly what John Kumahara has done.

He designed an iPad DJ concept (see photos below). A decent table top cd/dvd player will easily cost $1,500 and you need two of them. You also need a mixer which can cost as much as $500 to $1000. If you want video support by the way, you’ll need another thousand dollars. So all in all, you need $4000-$5000 for a DJ console set.

What about the costs for an iPad? You actually only need the Wi-Fi-only version with 16GB flash memory, so that will cost you $499. The iPad has probably enough horse power to simulate a DJ console. Ofcourse you’ll need two and you also need an iPhone or iPod touch. Let’s say you buy the 8GB iPod touch. That’ll cost you $199.

All in all, you only need around $1200. On top of that you’ll probably need some accessories and the software as well. Even if the software sells for a couple hundred dollars you still need a lot less money, probably somewhere near the $2000.

So, you go to a party with a backpack and you take out two iPads and an iPod touch, start the application and you’re ready to go.
