Meet Flipboard, a social magazine from Flipboard. The app is designed from the ground up for the iPad and creates a magazine out of a users social content. Flipboard presents content based on user’s own accounts on Twitter and Facebook and turns it into a very iPad-friendly interface. The video below shows how it works.

The application is free to use and does the job, of collecting data and presenting it in a beautiful format, very well. The iPad has been developed to fit in the sitting-on-the-couch lifestyle and this iPad-app is a perfect addition to that. Get Flipboard [App Store] for free.

With TeamViewer HD you can remotely control any computer. You can watch movies, use the Internet browser and all the other features of the computer you’re connected with.

The size of the iPad’s screen is perfect for these kind of applications. Although it can be handy and cool to control your computer with the iPhone, it really becomes a way better application when it runs on the iPad.

You have to download the free desktop version and the free iPad version to be able to connect with the two devices. If you want to use this app in any sort of professional circumstance you’ll have to purchase a $100 license.

Another positive thing is the fact that an amateur can use this is as well, since the most important functions are displayed in one window without all the menus. The more experienced users of Photoshop can immediately start using the functions. Keyboard shortcuts are no longer necessary.

You do need to install the Keypad Server-application for Mac OS X or Windows. You also need Photoshop CS3, CS4, of Elements. You get shortcuts to functions like draw-, edit-, and viewfunctions. You can also make finger gestures to zoom, pan and scroll. You only need to make a connection between the computer and the iPad once. After restarting the app, the connection is automatically established.

Maybe one of the biggest complaints is the fact that the iPad has no camera. Apple presented the iPad as being a very cool device to show your photos on. There’s now a solution: CAMERA-A.

With this application you can make photos with your iPad via the camera of your iPhone. That’s immediately it’s weakness; you need an iPad AND an iPhone. You need to install the app on both devices. You can then connect the two devices via Bluetooth or Wi-Fi. The next step is to place the iPhone on a surface and you can start making photos with your iPad. You can zoom in and out without moving your iPhone.

“The Kindle has no color screen and therefore the books are all in black and white. The nice thing is that the Kindle-books can be read on multiple devices and can be synchronized with each other. At home you can read a book on the iPad, and when your on the go you continue reading on your iPhone. This can be achieved thanks to Whispersync. The application can remember where you stopped reading the last time you opened the e-book.

There are more than 450.000 titles available from the start, and there are always free samples (the first chapter). The iPad-app will be adapted to fit the larger screen. You’ll also be able to adapt the background color and change the font.”

There are many many many more applications, including the seven Gameloft titles. This promises to be another goldmine for Apple and developers.

As was recently discovered (watch the video), the iPad App Store has already been filled with games and other applications designed for the 9,7-inch touchscreen of the device. Further investigation shows these applications are pretty high priced. Below is a little overview of iPad prices versus iPhone prices.

Flight Control HD: $4,99 (op de iPhone $0,99)

Enigmo Deluxe: $9,99 (op de iPhone $2,99)

Cro-Mag Rally for iPad: $9,99 (op de iPhone $2,99)

Labyrinth 2 HD: $7,99 (op de iPhone $4,99)

Real Racing HD: $9,99 (op de iPhone $4,99)

Keep in mind, these are prices that might not be definite. We’ll have to wait and see what the real prices are when the iPad launches this Saturday. Another fact to remember is that iPhone games were prices pretty high as well when the iPhone App Store was launched. Plus, iPad versions of those games are different from the iPhone counterparts on several different levels.

For instance, there are more characters, more levels and better graphics and more details. Personally I think those high prices will drop significantly when more people buy the iPad and when more and more applications enter the App Store. The small group of expensive applications you’ll find in the iPad App Store at launch date is just a clever marketing way for those companies to make money.

Then again, is asking four times as much money (see Flight Control for instance) than the iPhone version fair? Another example of an expensive application is OmniGraphSketcher. The app will cost $14,99 (see screenshot below).

Amazon is going to develop an iPad application which allows users to read Kindle books on the iPad. So if you’ve already bought some digital books from Amazon, you’ll soon be able to read those books on the iPad. The books will now also display pictures in color.

The Kindle has no color screen and therefore the books are all in black and white.

You’ll also be able to adapt the background color and change the font.

The app will not be available at the launch of the iPad. Amazon has no iPad at their disposal, so they’ll have to wait till the device is available in Apple Stores. They will then test the app to make sure it works perfectly on the iPad.

The company announced on their blog that they are going to bring Things to the iPad. They don’t have more information to share, but will post more info once April 3rd gets closer. Another great app specially re-designed for the iPad.
